New Beginnings
Hi, I’m Claire—and I guess I’m blogging now?
With all the Patreons and Substacks and social media options lately, i’ve been finding it kind of tricky to know where to post consistently. I just wanted a little corner of the internet to make my own! A cozy, low-pressure space to comfortably share my work. Maybe it’s a bit old-school, but honestly, I think that’s the vibe I’m going for. So, welcome! Whether you want to follow along or check in occasionally, I’m going to try to post when I can.
To get things going, I’m starting a new project. I’ve always loved digging up old floor plans on Pinterest and learning about home design from the past. While I have a special place in my heart for century homes, in undergrad, I remember doing a school project on the Eameses and thinking, these guys have it figured out! While I don’t usually lean as modern as them, I’ve always had a deep appreciation for single-family homes of all styles - and seeing them filled with bits and pieces that bring joy, function, and most of all, comfort.
Recently, I came across a book called Houses for Homemakers by Royal Barry Wills on Archive.org (thanks, internet!). I think it’s my new dream to draw up one of these houses in SketchUp each week, ideally. The goal isn’t to create something super polished or perfect. Instead, I want to explore, adapt, and reimagine these houses with a contemporary lens, just like people have done with them in real life over the decades.
If you’re into interior design, creative process stuff, or just enjoy watching someone try to make consistent progress without spiraling… lets be internet friends!
